How to Use a Fire Extinguisher
If you don’t own a Fire Extinguisher, now is the time to get one. This device is essential to any business or residence. In a fire emergency, you don’t want to be caught without a fire extinguisher. It’s also helpful when you have flammable liquids in your house, like candles. It can also put out a grease or oil fire.
How to Use a Fire Extinguisher For Your Vehicle
There are several ways to use a fire extinguisher. You can first get the one that’s rated for Class A or K fires. If you don’t have a Class A or B fire, you can choose a class B or C extinguisher, which are rated for the type of fire. The most effective ones have wetting agents, which break the surface tension of water to make it penetrate deeper.
Before you use a Fire Extinguisher, you should position yourself so that you can retreat in case the fire spreads to an area too small for you to reach. You should have a backup hose line, too. As an initial tactic, turn off any electrical equipment or turn off any flammable liquids and gases. Then, you can begin to S-sweep the base of the fire from side to side.
To use a Fire Extinguisher, you should stand upwind of the fire. Aim the nozzle of the extinguisher at the base of the fire and squeeze the lever. Then, sweep back and forth in the direction of the fire. If the fire is still burning, you should repeat the process until the fire has been completely contained. When the fire has been put out, the water will quickly evaporate.
